Ho Chi Minh City to fast track airport express rail link

Municipal authorities in Ho Chi Minh City have announced a plan to build an airport rail link. The two kilometre long link will provide a convenient connection from Tan Son Nhat Airport to the city’s underground rail network once the two are inaugurated.

If the central Vietnamese government gives the project the thumbs up, the line will eventually link the airport to Tan Binh District and Metro Line 5. Planning consultants have already labelled the additional line 4B-1 and estimated construction costs at US$250 million.

The city council employed a team of professional consultants from South Korea to draught the proposals which will be submitted to the national government. According to the schedule of operations, construction work will commence in early 2019 and the service will welcome its first passengers five years later.

Ho Chi Minh City is a sprawling metropolis and hub for transportation in Southern Vietnam. 12GO ASIA offers taxi reservations services for trips to Vung Tao in addition to tickets for flights, buses and trains to the likes of Nha Trang, Da Nang, Hanoi and Bangkok.
