Hanoi enlists Belarus to aid with eco transport development

The deputy-mayor of Hanoi says Belarus has expressed interest in helping develop environmentally friendly public transport. Nguyen Van Suu told reporters this week that the council is looking for assistance in acquiring electric and gas buses.

He continued by saying that the council would also like to build eight different suburban and underground railway lines to improve transport options for residents and tourists in the Vietnamese capital. Council officers held meetings with Belarus deputy-prime-minister Vladimir Semashko on Monday.

Afterwards, Mr Semashko said he had asked for more collaboration between the two nations in developing transport infrastructure. He explained that the recently signed Vietnam-Eurasian Economic Union free trade treaty would go a long way towards smoothing the way to investing in development projects.

Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and attracts millions of tourists every year with its diverse collection of museums, monuments and restaurants. It is also the gateway to the rice terraces of Sapa, Halong Bay and the route south to Hue, Danang and Ho Chi Minh City.

Visitors travelling onwards to these destinations from Hanoi will find buying tickets from 12GO ASIA online is a stress free procedure.
