Koh Chang Noi Thailand – 5 Best Guesthouses, Hotels and Resorts to Stay
Wherever you choose to stay on the island, you won't be breaking the bank, as pretty much all of the accommodation here costs under THB600 per night. There are a couple of more expensive resorts, but they are not recommended.
If you are visiting Koh Chang Noi, it's likely you are hoping to embrace the peaceful and simplistic lifestyle here, and will be happy to stay in a simple beachside bungalow, or even try out some camping. Due to the lack of electricity, you will have to get used to no lights after 10pm, and mostly cold showers! As the island rarely gets busy, it's not necessary to book in advance, unless you visit over the Christmas or New Year period.
Ao Yai Northern Part
Most visitors to Koh Chang Noi choose to stay at the main beach, Ao Yai, which has a number of bungalow resorts to choose from. In order to narrow down your options, it really depends on whether you want a quiet beach, or if you want to be closer to the "action", which is still fairly limited.
Those seeking peace and quiet should stay on the northern section of the beach, which has several accommodation options, plus the islands only temple, and a yoga centre. The two most popular bungalow resorts here are Sunset and Cashew, and each one has its own style and atmosphere.
Sunset (bungalow with fan, THB400) is the top choice for hipsters and creative types, whilst Cashew (bungalow with fan, THB500) tends to attract a larger crowd, and even some long-term guests. It's perhaps not the trendiest of options on the island, but it has good facilities, including a decent restaurant and a massage parlour. Sunset is slightly quirkier, and guests come here to enjoy the lively atmosphere, relaxed lounge area, and beautiful wall murals.
Ao Yai Cenra Part
Anyone seeking some low-key nightlife should consider staying at central Ao Yai, which features two laid-back beachside bars. Chang Thong Bungalows (bungalow with fan, THB450) is a great choice, with lovely sea views, hammocks and a convenient location. It's perfect for anyone hoping to hike around the island, and is also well connected to the beach bars, village and convenience store.
Ao Yai Southern Part
The southern section of Ao Yai has lots of bungalows to choose from, several overpriced resorts, and a reggae bar.
Sawasdee Resort (bungalows from THB400) is probably the best option on the island for families (children over the age of 7 only), and is run by very helpful owners who keep the bungalows in good condition. This is probably the most comfortable accommodation on the island that is also good value for money, and the in-house restaurant serves delicious and authentic Thai cuisine. If Sawasdee is fully booked, Crocodile Rock Bungalows (bungalow with fan, THB400) is a great alternative, thanks to gorgeous scenery and good food.
Ao Tadaeng
Slightly further south, Ao Tadeang is great if you want peaceful and remote surroundings that are not too far from the main village or Ao Yai. There are several nice bungalow options here, but Sun Por (bungalows with fan from THB300) offers the best sea views and scenic surroundings, plus it's one of the cheapest options on the island.
Ao Siad
As far south as you can go, Ao Siad beach is a nature lovers dream, that can only be reached by those keen for long (and fairly strenuous) hike, those willing to pay for a private boat trip. This remote haven will reward those who dare to venture here with lush forests, wildlife, and secluded bays.
Green Banana Bungalows (bungalow with shared bathroom, THB250) is a great choice for anyone looking to unleash their inner hippie, provided you don't mind sleeping on a mattress on the floor! If you are looking for something a tiny bit more luxurious, check out Tommy's Bungalows (bungalow with fan, THB300). The owner will also take you out for a fishing trip if you ask nicely, and they serve good quality Thai food too.
