The route will be operated on a daily bases. The move anticipates introduction of a regular service to Da Nang by EVA Air's rival StarLux Airlines, a Taipei-based Taiwanese airline.
The representatives of the airlines said that if the regular daily service proves a success, the number of flights may be increased later on or larger aircrafts used for the route.
EVA Air was mulling the launch of regular flights to Da Nang for about three years and the current growing demand for trips between Taiwan and Vietnam favours the project.
Between January and October 2019, about one million passengers travelled between Taiwan and Vietnam, among whom Taiwanese travellers accounted for about 700,000, the rest being Vietnamese nationals.
EVA started its flights to Vietnam in 1992 Ho Chi Minh City in the south being the airline's first destination there. It was then followed by Hanoi in the north in 2003, with Da Nang in the central part of Vietnam joining later on. Now the airline offers regular flights to all the three regions of Vietnam.
