The port will accommodate cruise ships up to 225,000 metric tons and handle between 750,000 to 1 million inbound and outbound tourists a year. The developer, Guangzhou CCCC Cruise Home Port Investment Development Co Ltd., declares that the new port will be able to host the world's largest existing cruise liners with one 100,000-ton cruise berth and one 225,000-ton cruise berth.
Cruise industry is being developed in Nansha since 2016. Up to now over 1.21 million cruise tourists passed through Nansha old port with nine cruise lines based in Nansha. Together they serve 12 regional routes to Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines.
After completion, Nansha International Cruise Ship Terminal is expected to become the largest cruise ship complex in China. It is also promoted as a new Guangzhou landmark. The terminal will feature an open platform to let passengers relax and enjoy the beautiful view of the ships and the sea. The terminal will also be used for exhibitions and catering events.

Nansha District in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China, will see launch of a huge international cruise home port later this year, the official opening expected in November. It will be one of the largest ports of its kind with four berths along 1.6 km shoreline and covering an area of 760,000 square meters.
