Air China Operates Their Maiden Beijing–Phnom Penh Direct Flight

The first direct flight between Beijing and Phnom Penh operated by Air China which was initially planned for November last year and delayed to market reasons, has landed in the Cambodian airport this Monday.

It heralded both the start for Air China’s operations in the Kingdom and the start of the direct service between the two capitals. While currently there is a number of airlines which connect cities and destinations in Cambodia and China, there has not been a direct air link between Beijing and Phnom Penh before. The service will be performed three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) of Cambodia is sure that both tourists and businessmen will benefit from the new direct flight between Phnom Penh and Beijing

According to the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism, China is the main tourism source market for Cambodia. In 2018, almost 2 million Chinese travellers visited the country. Each week, Phnom Penh airport habitually recieves over 80 flights, Siem Reap airport – from 60 to 70 and Sihanoukville airport handles between 15 and 20 flights; almost half of all flights are from China.
