Chief executive officer of AirAsia Philippines shared with the public the airline's intention to open more routes to China and Japan and to add more flights on the exhisting routes in 2019.

The exact destinations are not yer decided but most probaby there will be flights to Osaka and/or Narita in Japan. In China, AirAsia Philippines are eying Chengdu and/or Chongqing. Due to heavy conjection of Beijing airport, this route is out of question for a time being as the airline has not yet found convenient slots for take off and landing in Manila and Beijing.

There are already regular routes served by the airline between the Philippines and China, including Guangzhou, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Shenzhen. AirAsia Philippines also flies to the Chinese autonomous territories of Macau and Hong Kong. The next year the airline will alsoadd flight frequency on existing routes to China and Korea, too.

On the local level, AirAsia Philippines is considering to make the newly opened Bohol-Panglao airport their 5th hub on the Philippines with the four already existing being Manila, Clark, Kalibo, and Cebu. With Bohol showing great potential, AirAsia will probably increase flight frequencies to and from Bohol in 2019.
