Forest City – A New Model City to Appear in Johor Soon

Malaysia is pioneering the world real estate market with a new development project which we sincerely believe will become one of the most popular attractions in Johor, too. Why?

The name of the project – Forest City – speaks for itself. Though it is primarily a condominium development, it looks more like a new city living concept – with car-free green design, renewable energy infrastructure and smart technologies being an essential part of the project. The project has already won the Global Model of Green Building Industrial Park award from the Global Forum on Human Settlements – two times, to be more exact.

The first 482 units of the Forest City will be delivered by December this year but when completed, the project will be able to accommodate 700,000 residents – at least that is the plan for the ambicious development which costs USD100 billion. Yet it is still uncertain at what pace the construction will go on – for several reasons. Recently, a couple of China-backed projects in Malaysia including the East Coast Rail Link and a natural gas pipeline project in Sabah have been put on a pause and it is no secret that the Forest City mega project is a Chinese-Malaysian joint venture. Also, the construction of a high speed rail (HSR) link from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore, which was expected to boost the project considerably, has been suspended, too.

Regardless the obstacles, we will hopefully soon witness the birth of a totally new concept of city living, a model to follow for other cities in the world.
