Northern railway to be closed for repairs

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) will close substantial stretch of it from Sila At in Uttradit province to Chiang Mai stations for repairs. The using of the track is currently dangerous.

In connection with the frequent cases of derailments at the northern part of the track The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) will close substantial stretch of it from Sila At in Uttradit province to Chiang Mai stations for repairs. 

Initially SRT Direction had decided to start rail maintenance in November, but it is necessary to start repairs immediately from September 16 to the end of October.  The using of the track is currently dangerous.

According to the SRT chief all passengers will be provided with alternative transport such as free air-conditioned buses. Those not want to travel during rail maintenance are welcome to refund their tickets.
