Three new Border Gates between Cambodia and Thailand to be Established

The existing three border corridors between Cambodia and Thailand will function as regular border gates. Entering each country and trade will become easier soon.

The agreement has been achieved at the meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee in Thailand. The request to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries is to be made to open thegates. Besides, the borders will be checked and the position of the checkpoints will be defined.

The three points of border gates are expected in Ban Khao Din, Thailand next to Cambodian Battambang province, and in Buriram and Trat provinces.

The local residents from Cambodia can pass through the border three days a week to sell their agricultural produce and bring the goods bought inThailand which is more usual. Opening a permanent border checkpoint will allow the people to pass it daily and make doing business simpler. It was pointed out that last year there existed 82 border gates in Cambodia including international airports and ports and other points. The urgent need of opening the border gates might reduce illegal crossings and will let people find work in the other country and facilitate trade.
