Myanmar and Cambodia to launch joint temple promo campaign

The tourism authorities of Myanmar and Cambodia are working on a plan to collaborate on the promotion of their historic temples.  In Cambodia, deputy-director In Thoeun confirmed the tourist boards were working on a proposal which will see the temples of Angkor promoted alongside those of Bagan in Myanmar.

The deputy-director continued by saying the talks came about as a result of Emirates inaugurating a new route from Dubai to Yangon and Phnom Penh. He finished off by saying it made sense to link the two country’s best known heritage attractions.

The promotion will be given the moniker two nations, one destination and will be officially launched at next year’s ASEAN Tourism Forum. A representative on Myanmar’s working committee for the programme says both Bagan and Angkor were founded more than 1,000 years ago and against similar natural backdrops.

Kyaw Swa Min finished off by saying grouping the unique temple cities into one enticing package would benefit both Cambodia and Myanmar. 12GO ASIA offers ticketing services for travel to Siem Reap, the nearest town to Angkor, as well as Phnom Penh, Yangon and Bagan.
