Trial E visa programme attracts more tourists to Vietnam

A trial run of an electronic application system for tourist visas to visit Vietnam has proved to be a resounding success. The national Department of Tourism has released data showing 22,000 overseas visitors used the Immigration Division’s website to apply for their E-visas.

The data is applicable to the four month period from when the system launched on 1 February to the end of May. Tourism Association deputy chairperson Vu The Binh noted an E-visa system provided a streamlined and convenient means of applying for entry permits.

Passport holders from 40 countries ranging from Azerbaijan to Venezuela and including Ireland, Norway, Finland, Japan and Russia are eligible to apply for visitor visas using the online portal. E-visas are valid for entry at the country’s eight international airports plus official sea ports and land border crossings with neighbouring nations.

Going down the E-visa road and buying travel tickets from 12GO ASIA means people planning holidays in Vietnam can do so from the comfort of their armchairs before they even leave home. 12GO offers ticketing service to airports at Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City from the likes of Bangkok, Singapore and Yangon
