Cambodia endorses plan to launch online Angkor Wat ticketing system

The Cambodian government has approved a proposal to set up an online ticketing system for Angkor Wat. Visitors will be soon be able to book and pay for their admission tickets to the Angkor Archaeological Park and its satellite temple complexes via a secure internet portal.

A bulletin released by the Ministry of Tourism says visitors will be able to pay the entry fee using credit or debit cards. The initial bid to set up the system was made at a meeting of the Angkor Enterprise board and endorsed by the Finance Ministry’s Aun Porn Moniroth.

Although the plan has been okayed in principle, the online gateway still has to be created. The bulletin did not reveal a specific deadline as to when this would actually happen.

Angkor Wat is one of the most important collections of historic temples and monuments in Southeast Asia. The complex is spread over 10,000 acres and features hundreds of temples, well-preserved ruins, statues and chedis including the highlights of the Bayon and the Angkor Temple itself.

The entrance and current ticket office for Angkor Archaeological Park is a few kilometres north of central Siem Reap and its landmark Pub Street. 12GO provides travel solutions from Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville, Bangkok and Singapore to Siem Reap.
