Hue Citadel to offer evening admission during the summer

The management body with jurisdiction over Hue Citadel says the complex will be open during the evening for the summer of 2017. The former imperial citadel will open from 19:00 to 22:00 between the 22 April and the 15 September.

Hue Citadel director Phan Thanh Hai noted that daytime temperatures often climbed above the 40°C mark during the summer and this was a major visitor deterrent. Residents in the Vietnamese city say evenings are cooler and make strolling around the sights in the citadel less of a chore.

Key sites in the city which include The Mieu Temple Thai Hoa Palace will be open. Re-enactments of evening activities, for instance the changing of the guard and martial arts drills, which took place in the palaces during imperial times will also be staged for visitors.

The evening admission fees are the same as those for daytime visits and are VND150,000 for foreign tourists and VND120,000 for Vietnamese citizens. Hue is one of Vietnam’s top tourism draws. It is located roughly midway between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and is easily reached when you select 12GO ASIA as your travel partner.
