Tony Jaa joined another 1,000 volunteers in clearing flotsam and jetsam off the beach and in putting the damaged landscape to rights. Ban Krut was one of numerous beaches on the nation’s southern Gulf of Thailand shoreline which were left looking distinctly bedraggled after unseasonal rains and flooding earlier this month.
The actor explained he had previously been to Ban Krut and been amazed by its natural beauty and general aura of peace and quiet. Ban Krut’s district chief said additional work needs to be done on the beach to replace sand washed away by swirling floodwaters.
Heavy rainfall battered the southern half of the Thai peninsula during the first two weeks of 2017. The consequent floods forced people out of their homes and caused severe disruption to transport connections right across the region. The 12GO ASIA travel team says bus and train services are now running to schedule.
