Analysts at the state-controlled enterprise say based on current projections the combined airports will deal with around 24,000 aircraft movements before the 4 February. AoT’s three busiest airports are Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang in Bangkok, and Phuket.
Suvarnabhumi is the main gateway to Thailand. The estimations indicate it will handle an average of 183,000 passengers and 2,400 aircraft movements each day of the holiday. Don Mueang is the nation’s budget carrier hub and is expecting 104,000 passengers and nearly 700 aircraft movements a day.
The 12GO ASIA travel team says that passengers arriving at Thai airports during the holidays will probably experience some delays at immigration checkpoints and baggage carousels. For departing passengers, the team recommends allowing plenty of time to reach airports, check-in and go through security checks.
