Ho Chi Minh City inaugurates new VIP class airport bus route

Last weekend saw the inauguration of a VIP bus service linking Ho Chi Minh City’s airport and two of the city’s bus stations. The new buses run from An Suong Bus Station to Tan Son Nhat Airport and then on to Mien Dong Eastern Bus Terminal.

Services run every day between 05:30 and 20:30 with departures every half an hour in each direction. Ho Chi Minh’s public transportation authority has set the fares between VND7,000 and VND10,000. The actual fare paid is dependent on the number of stops travelled.

The fare equates to around 40 cents US or THB15 and is a bargain for the budget conscious looking for a cheap way to get to and from Tan Son Nhat Airport. Traffic congestion around the airport is pretty bad during weekday morning and evening commuter hours and Ho Chi Minh council has been looking at ways to improve travel options for passengers using the facility.

A local developer recently proposed the construction of a cable-car system to transport passengers over the last few streets to the airport. The city’s long-term plan is to build a new airport farther from the city. Authorities have given Long Thanh Airport the green light, but it will not be ready to welcome its first flights until at least 2025.

Flights to Ho Chi Minh City are one of the most popular bookings on 12GO ASIA. We fly here from the likes of Hanoi and Bangkok and also offer bus options from locations including Phnom Penh, Nha Trang and Vientiane
