Thai excursion trains operate on Chiang Mai Lampang route

Thailand’s national railway operator is running a series of excursion trains in the north over the forthcoming holiday season. Tourists and rail travel aficionados have the chance of boarding themed services such as the Merry Christmas Special and the Train of Love for Valentine's.

The trains will comprise four carriages and they will be decorated to reflect local culture and traditions. The timetable for the Chiang Mai to Lampang trains allows them to make stops at interesting and historic places along the way.

The Constitution Train will depart from Chiang Mai on the 11 December. It will be followed by the Merry Christmas Special on the 24 December, the Children's Day Train on the 14 January, the Chinese New Year Train on the 28 January and the Train of Love on the 11 February.

The trains depart from Chiang Mai at 09:10 on the Saturday for each outing and arrive in Lampang at 14:10. The return train operates on the following day with a departure time of 14:30 from Lampang and arrival in Chiang Mai at 18:25.
