Hanoi to welcome Hello Kitty kiddies theme park

A Hanoi development company recently reached agreement with the Hello Kitty brand proprietors on the construction of a theme park in the city. The memorandum of understanding between Sanrio Wave and the BRG Group could see Vietnam’s first international theme park launch in two years.

Although named Hello Kitty, the existing parks also have attractions which allow youngsters to interact with other Sanrio cartoon heroes which include Cinnamoroll and Kerokerokeroppi. The facility will be indoors and is a sign that Hanoi is actively wooing families.

Tourism industry analysts say Vietnam is lagging behind other Asia Pacific nations as it does not yet have an internally branded theme park.  Japan and Hong Kong, for example, boast Disneyland parks while Thailand is home to a Cartoon Network Amazone facility.

Even without a major theme park, Hanoi features an eclectic choice of tourism attractions for visitors to enjoy. Hoa Lo Prison (AKA the Hanoi Hilton), the Ho Chi Minh Museum, One-Pillar Pagoda and Hoan Kiem Lake are highlights of the collection.

Hanoi is also a good base for trips to the likes of Halong Bay and the rice terraces at Sapa. People travelling to and from Hanoi will find 12GO ASIA the easiest option when buying tickets.
