Minister Thong Khon says the move would make the iconic Preah Sisowath Quay more comfortable for tourists as they would not have to dodge busy traffic to get from one side of the road to the other. He added that food and drink vendors would be allowed to set up shop and put up parasols and seating zones for the weekend.
The minister told media reporters an application had already been lodged with Phnom Penh’s council. He finished off by saying if the project was a success it could be extended to Siem Reap and Sihanoukville.
Wat Ounalom, the National Museum, the Royal Palace Park, the palace itself, the Foreign Correspondents’ Club and historic colonial mansions are located on Sisowath Quay. People travelling to Phnom Penh from the likes of Siem Reap, Sihanoukville and Bangkok will find 12GO ASIA the best choice when buying tickets.
