Flying to Kota Kinabalu and North Borneo with 12GO ASIA

In recent months, 12GO ASIA has added hundreds of new routes to its travel ticketing options portfolio. In partnership with AirAsia, 12GO ASIA now offers flights to Kota Kinabalu. This historic town was known as Jesselton under British rule and it is the gateway to Mt Kinabalu National Park, Sabah and North Borneo.

AirAsia offers direct flights from Hong Kong, Singapore Changi Airport, Kuala Lumpur and Penang to Kota Kinabalu. People travelling from other locations such as Bangkok, Vientiane or Chiang Mai can take advantage of the 12GO ASIA combo-ticketing system to make reservations for the whole journey.

AirAsia passengers disembark at Kota Kinabalu Airport’s Terminal I. After arrival, the downtown zone and waterfront are just seven kilometres away. Airport buses offer a low cost and convenient means for this journey. The buses terminate at Merdeka Square. Gaya Street and China Town are minutes away on foot and the Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal not much farther in a taxi.

The ferry terminal is the departure point for boats to a small archipelago called Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. The islands plus Mt Kinabalu are the main tourist Kota Kinabalu attractions, but by no means the only ones.

Visitors can book themselves trips to the likes of Kota Kinabalu Wetland Centre and Inobong in the Crocker Range Park. Tanjung Aru Beach and Sabah State Museum are among popular destinations closer to town.
