Chiang Mai museum to stage ASEAN pop culture festival

The Lanna Folklife Museum in Chiang Mai is getting ready for the opening of the eagerly awaited ASEAN pop culture festival. The cultural extravaganza will take place on the weekend of the 27 and 28 August at the northern Thai city’s flagship cultural establishment.

Announcing news of the event, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) says it will be multi-ethnic and will showcase the unique traditions and culture of the ASEAN member nations. Exhibits and imagery relating to ASEAN pop are set to delight museum visitors over the two-day extravaganza.

The diverse collections of the Lanna Folklife Museum are housed in a majestic old colonial building which once served as the administrative centre of Chiang Mai Province. The displays depict life in the former Lanna Kingdom through the ages with authentic artefacts, costumes, models and equipment.

The Lanna Folklife Museum is an essential item on the agendas of culture vultures when visiting Chiang Mai. People travelling from Bangkok, or any other location in Thailand, will find 12GO ASIA most convenient when purchasing tickets for their journeys.
