Entry fees to Angkor Wat temple complex to double

The management authority at Cambodia’s Angkor Archaeological Park has announced an increase in entry fees for visitors. The cost of a one-day pass is set to rise from US$20 to US$37 in six months time.

The fees for three and seven day passes will rise to US$62 and US$72 respectively. The prices for these are currently US$40 and US$60. As before, the seven-day pass represents the best value for money but is really only an option for diehard culture vultures.

The state union in charge of ticketing at the temples is Angkor Institution. A spokesperson told reporters that travel agencies offering Angkor tours had six months notice so that they could adjust their prices accordingly.

The Angkor temples are Cambodia’s top tourism draw. Almost 1.3 million tourists visited in the first six months of 2016. The historical park is a few kilometres from the town of Siem Reap and about four hours by bus from Phnom Penh. 12GO ASIA offers convenience when buying tickets for travel on this route.
