Phet Chan-charoen is the senior manager at Bangkok’s second airport and he said the new structure requires passengers to get a queue ticket from a kiosk near Terminal 2’s Gate 15. They then wait for their number to be called over the loudspeaker before proceeding to the adjacent taxi rank.
Prior to getting into their allocated taxis, dispatchers issue a paper slip with the cabbie’s vehicle and licence numbers. An AoT spokesperson noted that with a hard-copy of the information it should do away with complaints cabbies had not turned on their metres, tried to cheat passengers or been rude.
The passenger queuing zone has been equipped with 100 seats and there is a priority service for disabled, pregnant and elderly travellers plus Buddhist monks. Don Mueang Airport has a footbridge to Don Mueang Railway Station.
