Phuket Central mall opens dinosaur and alien theme park

Phuket’s Central Festival East mall has opened a theme park featuring authentic robotic models of a dinosaur, a giant-sized gorilla and a spaceship.  The gorilla at Ghostinium stands eight metres above ground and is operated by animatronics to give the illusion of being alive.

The Ghostinium’s tyrannosaurus rex is 2.8-metres high and, with its petulant growl, is guaranteed to induce the fear factor in even the hardiest of youngsters. Giant spiders and spaceships are the other chief exhibits. A virtual master of ceremonies welcomes visitors and leads them through the spacecraft zone while providing running commentaries.

The commentary is available in Thai, English, Russian and Chinese. Animator Vadim Gostev said the Ghostinium offered an educational and fun experience for children and adults alike. The facility is open from 12:00 to 20:00 every day except Tuesday.

Ghostinium admission fees are THB300 for children and THB400 for adults. Central Festival Mall is adjacent to the Phuket Town bypass road, Highway 402, and can be reached by bus or taxi.
