Annual Phuket Red Cross Fair gets ready for launch

Workers at the main park in Phuket Town are preparing it to stage the annual Phuket Red Cross Fair. The eagerly awaited event begins on 26 December and will continue through the New Year until 5 January.

Regional Red Cross boss Vassana Tipayapongtada said that visitors can expect all the fun of the fair that has made the event a highlight on the Thai island’s annual calendar. Live bands, traditional dancers and a beauty pageant are among the entertainment scheduled for the fair’s main stage.

Stalls at the fairground sell all manner of souvenirs, handicrafts and culinary delicacies. Children are catered for with the likes of a bouncy castle, a big wheel and a merry-go-round. The organisers claim visitors can make merit for the new year by giving some blood at the donations tent.

Ms Tipayapongtada noted that the lucky draw will run as usual for this year’s fair. She carried on by saying the first and second prizes were a Toyota Vios saloon car and a Toyota Hilux pick-up truck and three third prizes were all motorcycles.

Tickets for travel to Phuket are hard to come by during the Christmas and new year festive holidays. Tourists looking to ensure they have confirmed reservations prior to travel will find 12GO ASIA the easiest option.
