Bangkok trains depart from Bang Sue on Sunday afternoon

Trains in and out of Bangkok on Sunday afternoon will arrive and depart from Bang Sue Junction. The change from the normal terminus station of Hua Lamphong is being made to accommodate the Bike for Mom rally.

The changeover applies to all trains between 13:00 and 21:00 on Sunday. The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) says it will lay on free buses between Hua Lamphong and Bang Sue.

Bang Sue is actually two stations which are around 200 metres from each other. SRT trains on the southern route use Bang Sue Station 2 while those to and from the north and northeast utilise Bang Sue Station 1. Travellers catching trains at Bang Sue need to make sure they get the correct station.

Bike for Mom is being staged in honour of the birthday of Thailand’s Queen Sirikit. She celebrated her 83rd birthday on Wednesday 12 August. Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn is scheduled to lead a huge convoy of cyclists on a 43km circuit of Bangkok.

Si Ayutthaya Road is a part of the rally route. This road crosses the main train tracks out of Hua Lamphong. So that travellers can get to vantage points on the rally route, Bangkok’s public train operators are reducing fares by 50 per cent on all services between 12:00 and 24:00 on Sunday. 12GO ASIA is a reliable agent for all your bus and train ticket needs.
