Khao Lak’s reputation as a quiet backwater is further emphasised by the fact that it only has a tiny bus station and is not the terminus for any intercity bus routes. Nevertheless, it is easy enough to get to Khao Lak as it is on through routes linking Bangkok, Chumphon, Surathani, Takua Pa, Ranong, Krabi and Phuket.
Highway 4 runs parallel to the Andaman coast at Khao Lak and buses passing through will stop at resorts en route. Passengers only need to tell the conductor on local buses or the hostess or steward on the long-distance buses where they want to get off.
