Cambodia airports to get luxury lounges

The operator of Cambodia’s two principal airports announced yesterday that the facilities would soon feature luxury passenger lounges. Cambodia Airports released a statement saying Hong Kong-based Plaza Premium Lounge Management would design and administer the airport lounges.

The statement continued by saying the lounge at Phnom Penh Airport would be open around the end of June while the one at Siem Reap Airport is scheduled to receive its first passengers before year’s end. Plaza Premium says the lounges will offer bespoke meet-and-greet services and incorporate spa and treatment centres as well as bathrooms with fitted showers.

The floor space across the two airports is a combined 2,200-metres². Early in 2014, Cambodia Airports inaugurated a US$100 million project to upgrade the two airports and expand their annual passenger arrivals capacities. At the time, Cambodia Airports’ marketing director Khek Norinda stated work on the projects should be completed by 2016.

He explained that the upgrades would increase the annual passenger handling capability of both airports to five million each. The upgrades will see extra check-in counters and immigration booths as well as expanded commercial zones.
