Sentosa Hotels and Resorts
Budget accommodation on Sentosa Island is somewhat of an oxymoron and visitors of “Asia’s favourite playground” will have a difficult time locating cheaply priced beds for the night. Resorts and hotels almost exclusively make up the accommodation options and cheap hostels and dormitories are non-existent.
Mid-Range
Costa Sands Resort Sentosa is the most affordable spot to rest one’s head on the island and it doesn’t come cheaper than this. Rates, however, do vary considerably according to days and dates, with weekday stays guaranteeing the best value for money. Kampong huts which sleep up to 4 people as well as rooms in the main building are on offer. Free Wi-Fi, a pool, comfortable beds and even BBQ pits make this resort an excellent option for those looking to save some pennies. The restaurant on site is also very well-priced compared to other dining options on the island. Expect to pay around SGD 100 for a deluxe room (2 people) during the week and SGD 155 during the weekends. The Kampong huts (up to 4 people) offer better value for money and cost roughly SGD 70 during the week and SGD 100 over weekends.
Another mid-range accommodation option on Sentosa Island is Treasure Resort, with rooms starting at around SGD 200 per night. Offering an outdoor pool, garden, restaurant, cocktail bar and lounge, conference facilities and high-speed internet, this resort ticks all the basic boxes of decent lodging options for families and business professionals.
Top End
If you’re not short on Singapore dollars then your accommodation options in Sentosa are as abundant as they are extravagant.
One of the most luxurious and scenic hotels in all of Singapore, Rasa Shangri-La is a 5-star dream with all the trimmings. This is also the only hotel in Sentosa with direct access to the beach and is still conveniently located 15 minutes from the centre of the metropolitan action. With its ‘Cool Zone’ consisting of kiddies’ activities, outdoor playground and recreational games all completely supervised by a team of professionals; this hotel is a wonderful option for travellers with young families. In addition to being perfect for those with little ones in tow, Rasa Shangri-La is also ideal for couples and those seeking top-class pampering. CHI, the decadent in-house spa, offers guests beauty treatments of every kind. Throw this in with the beautiful pool and excellent restaurant on site, and this hotel is a superb option for those with a generous budget. Rooms cost between SGD 400 and SGD 600 per night, with the deluxe sea-view suite and panorama suite costing a hefty SGD 800 and SGD 1050.
Close to Palawan Beach lies a 3.5 hectare oasis in a lush rainforest. This is home to the lavish and beautiful Amara Sanctuary. A few of the luxurious amenities on offer are four pools (one even being a sky-pool), an on-site beauty spa, wedding facilities, a restaurant, conference facilities and a fitness centre. One can even download the E-concierge Amara Sanctuary app on their mobile device to make their stay as convenient and personal as possible. The app can be used by guests to ensure that everything during their stay is exactly as they wish it to be; from requesting extra pillows to making dinner reservations. Rooms start from around SGD 400 and go up to over SGD 1000. Private Jacuzzis are also on offer in this swanky establishment.
For those looking for accommodation in the centre of the Sentosa action, Resorts World is home to more than just a casino. There are four first-class hotels within Resort World, all with exceptional facilities, similar rates and all just minutes away from Universal Studios Singapore. The most exclusive and expensive of the four hotels, Crockford Towers, boasts lavishly decadent suites, villas and mansions. Prices per night start from around SGD 500 and increase steadily.
Modern, contemporary design fuses seamlessly with glamour and rock ‘n’ roll at the Hard Rock Hotel; Resorts World trendiest hotel. Arguably the best pool in all of Sentosa, this hotel prides itself on its manmade outdoor paradise, its Rock-Star Suites, as well as the fact that it is possible to borrow a Fender guitar to your room for free! Prices at Hard Rock Hotel start from around SGD 350.
The other two hotels within Resort World are Festive Hotel and Hotel Michael. Festive Hotel is ideal for families and offer fun loft-beds and bunk-beds for young ones. In much the same fashion as the other hotels, rooms start at around SGD 300.
Lastly, Hotel Michael has very similar nightly rates compared to the other Resorts World hotels and also provides a pool and buffet breakfast. Perhaps catering for a more mature and quieter crowd, Hotel Michael has a sophisticated art-gallery ambiance.
