Places to Eat on Sentosa

Singapore as a whole is well known for its wonderful fusion of Chinese, India, Malay and Western food, and while food on Sentosa Island is a fair bit pricier than the rest of the country, Sentosa Island offers the same appetising treats.

Cheap Eats

For those on a shoe-string budget, eating affordable can come as quite a challenge if you’re not versed on the art of culinary bargain-hunting. Fortunately, this article can help with that. While there are a couple of normal priced fast-food chains (two McDonalds and one KFC) on the island, for those visitors craving something a little more substantial and traditional there are other affordable dining options.

Arguably, the cheapest spot to grab some grub on the island can be found in the Malaysian Food Court at Resorts World Sentosa on Level One. Well-known Malaysian food vendors offer up authentic and delicious Malay street food at reasonable prices. While you can still expect to pay around twice as much as what you’d pay at any other Singaporean food centre, you can still leave full and satisfied without breaking the bank. With the charming, old-school décor and air-con, the Malaysian Food Court is an excellent spot to grab some grub.

Local Food

In the mood for delicious, affordable Chinese and local fare? Another wallet-friendly restaurant, also located in Resorts World Sentosa, is Ruyi. Ruyi means “as one wishes” in Mandarin and is Singapore’s first fast-food Chinese eatery. A big advantage of this spot is that it’s open 24/7. Well-known for their various Cantonese-style noodle dishes, curried chicken, fragrant rice and their dumplings; this spot has well-priced set menus which include a beverage and a desert, as well as 30 different menu items.

Western and International Food

Slightly more expensive than the above options, but not by a lot, is the delicious and appraised, Joe and Dough at Imbiah Lookout. Celebrated for their well-priced gourmet sandwiches, coffees, cakes and pastries; this establishment serves up their freshly baked goods in a trendy, friendly environment. Sandwich fillings and ingredients are unique, preservative-free and generous, making Joe and Dough a fine place to remedy growling stomachs.

Another mid-range restaurant to try is one of the busiest and most popular eateries in Universal Studios Singapore – Mel’s Drive-In. This typical American diner serves up tasty burgers with decadent toppings, cheese fries, onion rings and thick milkshakes; and is ideal for those who are wanting a break from Asian cuisine. The décor is done in the classic American diner look, service is friendly and food arrives in a speedy fashion.

On the Beach

For visitors wanting more of a beach scene with their eating experience, head to Bikini Bar for an icy cocktail and a meal. Serving mostly pub and grill options, with cheesy nachos and pizza thrown in for creative measure, this funky beach bar is busy during the day as well as the night. This popular spot on 50 Siloso Beach Walk with its laidback atmosphere, upbeat music, beach games and live sports games is a sure fire means of getting into the spirit of vacation.

Fine Dining

For those looking for extravagance and splendor, be sure to book a romantic dinner in the clouds at the Sky Dining Singapore Cable Car, Mount Faber. It is possible to eat a delectable 3-course meal in your own, exclusive cable car while dining in the clouds and stars above the Sentosa cityscape. The entire experience lasts an hour and a half with each course being served every half an hour, which is the time that it takes the cable car to travel from the Mount Faber cable car station to the Sentosa cable car station and back. Couples can choose a Standard Cabin or three different types of Floral Cabins. Prices for this experience start at around SGD 400 per couple and include a welcome drinks, starters, main courses, desserts and a box of chocolates.
