Thai AirAsia domestic flight aborted

A Thai AirAsia pilot was forced to abort a flight from Bangkok earlier today because of strange noises. Tassapon Bijleveld, the carrier’s CEO, told reporters that the captain made the decision to return to Bangkok’s Don Muang Airport because the flight crew heard abnormal noises emanating from the luggage hold.

The CEO continued by saying Flight FD3254 had taken off at 11:10 and was en route for the northeastern city of Khon Kaen. Following the irregular sounds, the pilot turned the Airbus A320 round and landed it just five minutes after takeoff.

Mr Bijleveld said the decision to abort the flight was taken in the interest of passenger safety. He continued by saying that engineers gave the aircraft a thorough inspection but could find nothing untoward and no likely cause of the sounds.

The CEO finished off by saying that after the inspection was complete, the aeroplane was given the green light to take off for Khon Kaen again. When questioned by media reporters later, a Thai AirAsia spokesperson was unable to confirm the specific reason for the noises that caused the flight to be aborted.
