To contain the spread of the coronavirus, Thailand stopped granting visa exemption entry to the Kingdom to passport holders of 3 countries:
– South Korea
– Hong Kong
– Italy.
Nationals of 18 other countries and territories will no longer be granted visa on arrival on entering the Kingdom. VOA was cancelled for Bulgaria, Bhutan, China (including Taiwan), Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Malta, Mexico, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, and Vanuatu.
This does not mean that citizens of the above mentioned countries and territories are barred from entering Thailand; it rather means that all arrivals from those countries have to apply for visas at a Thai embassy or consulate and travel with a medical certificate to prove they are not infected with the virus.
The new regulations were implied regardless the Tourism Ministry being against scrapping visas on arrival.
These are temporary measures which will be relieved as soon as the situation improves.
