Garuda Indonesia, the country's national flag carrier, and its low-cost subsidiary Citilink have started offering considerable discounts for airtickets on several domestic routes this Sunday.

In a bid to help boost the recovery of the country's tourism amid the coronavirus outbreak, the government of Indonesia has suggested the airlines to lower air ticket price to 10 maijor tourist destinations across the country.

In the frame of the tourism promotion policy the airlines will offer up to 50 percent discounts on tickets to 10 principal tourist destinations from March, 1 to May, 31, 2020.

The destinations on the list of high priority routes are Batam and Tanjung Pinang in Riau Islands, Bali, Yogyakarta, Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara, Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara, Malang in East Java, Manado in North Sulawesi, Lake Toba in North Sumatra and Tanjung Pandan in Bangka Belitung Islands.

Both Garuda Indonesia and Citilink serve all 10 destinations from the list and have announced they will reduce their air fare by 25 percent.

These promotional tickets can be booked via 24-hour call centers of the two airlines, websites, mobile apps and partner travel agencies.
