It's Confirmed: Goa to Get Second International Airport

Goa, India, will soon get its long awaited for second airport. The Supreme Court has recently granted permission for construction of the international airport which should be completed in the course of three years.

The grant for Mopa airport construction was issued back in 2016 but later suspended due to concerns regarding the impact of the new airport on the regional ecology. The project has finally passed all the evaluations and got the necessary approval.

Goa's new airport will have an international status and an estimated capacity of 4.4 million passengers a year during the first phase gradually reaching it maximum load of 13.1 million passengers a year. Goa's current Dabolim airport has long been functioning beyond its capacity handling over 8 million passengers a year. It is located in Dabolim, 4  kilometers from the nearest city of Vasco da Gama.
