PT Kereta Api Indonesia Introduces Schedule and Route Changes in December

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), Indonesia's  state-owned railway operator, is going to implement new Train Route Graphics (Gapeka) this December.

Passengers travelling with KAI should expect alteration of routes and departure schedules that the company introduced back in 2017. Some routes in West Java, for example, that normally end in Bandung, will continue until Gambir or Senen in Central Jakarta. It concerns at least four trains – Argo Wilis, Mutiara Selatan, Malabar and Turangga.

Argo Wilis currently plies the route from Bandung to Gubeng Station in Surabaya, East Java, with an estimated time of travel of 11 hours. After the introductions of these changes, it will run from Gambir via Bandung to Gubeng, the whole route taking 16 hours.

Turangga’s 12-hour Bandung-Surabaya-Gubeng route will become 5 hours longer covering Gambir.

Mutiara Selatan, connecting Bandung to Malang in East Java in 16 hours will start its journey from Gambir (total travel time – 20 hours).

Similarly, Malabar’s original Bandung-Malang route (15 hours) will originate from Senen (19 hours).

The extension of existing routes as well as departure times changes are aimed at providing the public with a wider range of alternatives when travelling between Jakarta and Bandung.
