Intramuros, Manila's main tourist draw, its famed walled city, will become the trial area for the new service. During the first three months scooters will be provided free of charge. The scooter ride-hailing project will deploy 30 units of scooters at the beginning with the number of scooters most probably increasing after the trial period. Scooters will allow tourists to explore the historic destination in Manila with convenience and enhance the overall experience from visiting the capital, the representatives of the DOT say.
Besides being a fun mode of transportation, scooters are eco-friendly, and the whole project goes in line with DOT's effort to inculcate a culture of sustainable tourism in the Philippines.
During the testing period, special Grab Philippines booths will be set up inside Intramuros to rent out scooters to visitors. After the pilot period, it will be possible to rent scooters via a mobile application called GrabWheels. Trial period can be extended to other locations, too; most probably the Rizal Park and Paco Park in Manila.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) and Grab Philippines are going to launch a scooter hailing service for tourists and locals in the capital of the Philippines. The pilot project is set to start in September 2019.
