High-Speed Train Now Links Beijing with Tangshan and Caofeidian

A new direct high-speed train route between Beijing and Caofeidian with a stopover in Tangshan has been launched this week in China.

The high-speed train now links the capital of the country, Beijing, with Caofeidian, an economic development zone in Bohai Bay, Hebei province. En route, trains detour to Tangshan, a large city in Hebei province northwest of Caofeidian what brings the total travel disance to approximately 285 km. Highspeed trains will cover it in 2 hours 20 minutes.

This is the first ever train that travels between Beijing and Caofeidian thus bringing the EDZ into the national high-speed railway network. The launch of this route is eyed as a great boost for development the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

While Caofeidian is mainly the port area, Tangshan is a well-established destination on a tourist map. It is home to Eastern Qing Tombs, an imperial mausoleum complex of the Qing dinasty, the largest, most complete, and best preserved extant mausoleum complex in China. It serves as the last abode for five emperors, 15 empresses, 136 imperial concubines, three princes, and two princesses of the Qing dynasty. The total area of the tomb complex is over 80 square kilometres.
