During the first half of 2019, 17 million tourists visited HCM, including 4.3 million overseas travellers. It is a 10 percent increase over the previous year's figures. During the same period, tourism revenue reached VND73 trillion (USD3.13 billion), showing an impressive 17 percent growth on year-to-year bases.
According to DoT, agro-tourism models like Green Noen in An Nhơn Tây Commune and Hải Thanh Koi Farm in Trung An Commune in Củ Chi District enjoy great popularity among tourists, and so does Vàm Sát ecological tourist site in Cần Giờ District. To attract more tourists, the city's Department of tourism will encourage more farmer households to follow substantial tourism formula and will also continue to diversify and improve tourism products and services.
The 15th edition of the country's largest international travel event, ITE HCMC, which will be held in September 5-7 at the Saigon Exhibition Convention Centre, is expected to be an important factor contributing into tourism growth in the province in particular and in the country in general.
