Jomtien prepares for jet-ski challenge cup

Organisers in the Thai seaside resort of Jomtien are busy preparing for next week’s jet-ski championship tourney. Competition heats for the International Jet Ski World Cup 2014 are scheduled to take place between 5 and 7 December.

The King’s Cup is a part of the annual international jet-ski circuit. Spectators will have the chance of seeing professionals from locations as far apart as Estonia and Australia demonstrate their prowess. Former world champion Kevin Reiterer from Australia and Canada’s Mike Klippenstein are among those who have already confirmed they will be attending.

Although jet-ski racing does not officially start until the 5 December, competitors will be registering over the previous two days. Entrants are also free to practice on the Jomtien Bay course on these days. The ballroom at the D Varee Hotel is the venue for a grand opening ceremony at 19:00 on the evening of 4 December.

The country’s flag carrier, Thai Airways, is the principal sponsor of the Jomtien jet-ski competition. Jomtien is adjacent to the more famous seaside Thai seaside town of Pattaya and is around two hours from Bangkok by bus.
