Chilika Lake, Odisha
This large brackish water lagoon is home to 165 species of feathered inhabitants out of which 92 species are migratory. Some birds like pintail duck come from as far as Siberia. The best points for bird-watching around Chilika Lake are Nalabana, Birds Island and Mangalajodi.

Located west of Ahmedabad, this bird santuary comes alive from October to April. Some of the spicies common in Gujarat during winter months include pelicans, flamingos, crakes, Brahminy ducks, purple moorhen, heron and grebes.
