Dates of Pattaya fireworks fest confirmed

City authorities in the Thai seaside resort of Pattaya have confirmed the dates for this year’s fireworks extravaganza. In a just released programme, the dates show as 28 and 29 November and the festivities are due to kick off at 15:30 on the first day.

The initial events on the agenda are limited to opening ceremonies, stage shows, musical concerts and carnival parades. The fireworks proper begin after dark falls. At 21:00, fireworks displays choreographed by teams from the UK, Germany and several other nations are set to leave audiences gasping in amazement.

There is a short interval in which budding stars strut their stuff in the local version of Thailand’s Got Talent before a second round of fireworks colourfully illuminates the sky above Pattaya Bay. The second evening follows a similar format, albeit with a later finish time of 01:00 to accommodate DJs spinning the discs for a final dance show.

The annual Pattaya Fireworks Festival is a major event on the resort’s annual calendar and usually attracts throngs of Thai and foreign tourists. This time of the year marks the onset of the cool season and the fireworks festival is seen as the start of the resort’s three-month-long peak holiday period.
