The first ever Indian artificial snow park is now open in Solang Valley and is expected to make a huge impact on promoting tourism in the region. To supply the necessary amount of snow, a recently imported snow gun is used which spreads snow over a 100 m radius creating a 30 cm snow cover utilizing between 60.000 to 70,000 litres of water. The artificial snow park is a brain child of a skier and a former associate of the Winter Games Federation who set up a private land plot to create a winterland for winter sprots enthusiasts. Besides skiing, visitors are offered sledging, too.

Getting to Manali is a little tricky because of its mountainous landscape. The nearest airport is in Bhuntar, which is about 50 km away from the town.
