The host organisation for the conference is the Association of National Olympic Committees. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and other national tourism related organisations are backing the event and have laid on a diverse schedule for attendees that is set to showcase the best of Bangkok.
The Olympics delegates will be offered the chance of taking in the landmark Emerald Buddha Temple and the Grand Palace as well as key sports venues in the city. TAT has also organised cultural displays at the Royal Thai Navy Hall which will take place later today.
Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, the national sports and tourism minister, said that Thailand was thrilled to welcome delegates for such a milestone event. She continued by saying she hoped the attendees would have a fruitful conference and take home happy memories from Thailand.
The minister added that sports and tourism were fast becoming interconnected and that Thailand had been the host for quite a few major events in recent years which included the Asian Games. She finished off with the hope that muay Thai kickboxing would one day be an Olympics event.
