Vietnam budget airline to add new destination

Vietnamese carrier VietJet has released a statement saying it will add a new domestic destination to its timetable later this month. The budget airline will commence daily services from Ho Chi Minh City to the northern city of Thanh Hoa with effect from 25 November 2014.

The VietJet statement said that the outbound flight from Ho Chi Minh’s Tan Son Nhat Airport would leave at 09:00 and touch down in Thanh Hoa 1 hour and hour 55 minutes later. Return flights are scheduled to depart Thanh Hoa at 11:30 and arrive back in Ho Chi Minh at 13:25.

Thanh Hoa is the principal gateway to the Gulf of Tonkin seaside resort of Sam Son. VietJet development manager Desmond Lin says the new route will give international and Vietnamese travellers a low-cost means of getting to the northern coastal areas of the country as well as provide an additional transportation option.

Since the launch of its maiden flight on Christmas Day 2011, VietJet has undergone a transformation that now sees it operate in excess of 100 flights every day. It serves all the key domestic cities of Hai Phong, Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi Minh City. VietJet also operates on international routes to Asian hub cities including Bangkok and Singapore.
