Saigon–Van Don Route to Get Direct Air Link

Vietjet, an international low-cost airline based in Vietnam, is launching direct flights between Ho Chi Minh International airport in the south of Vietnam and Van Don International airport in Quang Ninh province, in the north, effective from January, 20, 2019.

Van Don International airport is the closest airport to the famed Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and arguably the most popular tourist destination in Vietnam.

Four direct weekly flights are scheduled – on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. There will be a morning flight from Ho Chi Minh taking off at 7 am and landing in Van Don at 9.15 am. The return flight is scheduled to leave Van Don at 9.50 am and arrive to Saigon at noon.

The driving distance between Ho Chi Minh City and Van Don is 1,765 km what equals to over 35 hours of non-stop driving making a bus or a train trip a lengthy and tiring undertaking. The flight will cut the travel time to mere two hours 15 minutes.
