Guess the Nation That Likes to Travel Solo

And most likely you've guessed wrong! It is the Thais who lead the world travelling solo. It is especially amazing to learn it if you've already travelled around Thailand and have seen plenty of those trucks loaded with family members on a vacation outing plying the roads of the Kingdom.

But as far as travelling overseas is concerned, 28% of Thais admitted they travelled solo. Neither other countries of the Asia-Pacific region nor the world in the whole can beat the figure, wow.

Those who travel solo more, are the younger generation aged between 18 and 24. They constitute almost a half (45%) of all solo Thai travellers and share that they travel for bleasure – business & leisure. Those born in the 1970s and 1980s are more likely to find travel companions before setting on for a trip (71%). "Travel companions' are more often spouses or parents followed by freinds and colleagues. Interestingly, those who prefer travelling in a company, normally do it in a large group of five or more people.

And what do Thais prefer doing while travelling? They visit tours and attraction (71%), indulge in food and dining (69%) and go shopping (68%). Hmmmm... Food only on the second place with travelling Thais? There should be a mistake here! Especially if you consider that the rest of the Asia Pacific travellers put dining on the first place in their list of travel activities (73%) with shopping (69%) and attractions (64%) much behind.
