Mumbai's two new floating restaurants inaugurated recently and located near Marine Drive and Gateway of India will provide diners with an exclusive experience. High dining here will come at a price – expect to shell out from INR5,000 for a two-person dinner. Each of the restaurants can accommodate up to 450 guests at a time. They will soon be joined by a third floating restaurant which will be reachable from Girgaum Chowpatty beach.
Another novelty for Mumbai, seaplanes will soon connect the city with Vidarbha, the eastern region of the Maharashtra state. The Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) suggested six potential seaplane routes. They are primarily aimed at boosting tourism in the region providing visitors with an opportunity to get to both some of the most popular and off-the-beaten-track tourist spots, including several wildlife areas.
Finally, by 2022 Mumbai will get a new ropeway to Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Mumbai's prime attraction. Located on Elephanta Island, or Gharapuri, 10 km off the shore, currently caves can be reached via an hour ferry ride. The new 8 km long ropeway over the Arabian Sea will reduce travel time to the caves to sheer 15 minutes and will also become the first over-the-ocean ropeway in India.
