Nok Air to lead the field in onboard wifi

The planet’s leading inflight wireless internet service provider has announced it is joining forces with Nok Air. Global Eagle Entertainment says the Thai budget carrier is set to become the first in Asia to provide complimentary onboard internet access for passengers.

Dave Davis, the CEO of Global Eagle, stated that staff were thrilled about the partnership with Nok Air and that it cemented the company’s position at the forefront of the in-air digital entertainment experience. He continued by saying that the satellite hook-up operated on routes over land and water and was ideally suited to the Thai carrier’s sphere of operations.

Global Eagle is working in collaboration with Thaicom PLC in providing the service to Nok. Mr Davis added that this partnership would enable the two companies to grow together and expand their operations across Southeast Asia.

Patee Sarasin, is the boss of the low cost carrier and he issued a statement confirming the forthcoming free internet link-up for passengers. The statement said that the service complimented a whole host of other free services travellers with Nok Air could expect.

The statement continued by adding that Nok Air was committed to enhancing the in-flight experience for passengers. It finished with the claim that internet connection from altitudes of 35,000 feet was as good as it got.
