Currently, the nationalities who should obtain a visa on arrival pay THB2,000 for a single entry visa. The visa on arrival is offered for a 15-days period. During December 2018 and January 2019 it will be free of charge. The move is prompted by the fall of tourists applying for visa on arrival since January 2016. The Immigration Bureau reports that fewer numbers of visitors applied for VOA during the past two years than before.
Currently Thailand allows passport holders of 21 countries to enter the country appllying for a visa and obtaining one at the entry ports. The VOA is issued for those visiting Thailand with tourist purposes only. To confirm this, a valid address in Thailand should be shown – a booking of a hotel room or an appartment – and a return ticket not later than within 15 days from the date of arrival to Thaialnd. In certain cases it is also required to confirm the ability to finance your stay producing THB10,000 in cash per person.
The countries which nationals can apply for VOA are: Andorra, Bulgaria, Bhutan, China, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, India, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Papua New Guinea, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.
No VOA Fees during New Year Period in Thailand

In an attempt to boost foreign tourist arrivals to Thailand at least by one third during the New Year period, the cabinet has approved a grace 60 days period during which the fee for visa on arrival will be completely waived for all nationalities.
